Ford Focus Air conditioning repair diagrams?
I'm looking for a step by step diagram on how to replace an evaporator in the air conditioning in a 2000 Ford Focus? Does anyone know where I could find such an item? I'm trying to find if the connections are bolt or crimp style. Only serious answers please

- You cannot do this repair. You need to be certified to work on the AC system. You need the proper equipment to recover the refrigerant, to evacuated the system and to recharge it. You are NOT able to do this repair yourself. Sorry.
- the best thing to own is a repair manual you can buy them at any auto parts store and most book stores. if you are unsure dont get over your head and start takeing the dash apart because replacing an evaporator is extreamly time consuming on most cars it usually takes a couple days to do plus you should use a machine to make sure there is no freon in the system. Also in most cases if you take any part of the systme apart for more then a couple hours you will need to replace your reciever drier also because the water in the air will brake down the desiccant bag inside and the freon wont dry. Also I have gotten a lot of information just by calling a dealership for repair tips
- you can do this repair if u have the tools time and some a/c noladge but ima tell ya its a pan cuz u might have to take the whoel dash out to get too it but most of them are loacted near the fan that blows air inside
- The reason you want to change the evaporator yourself, is because your mechanic told you how expensive it would be to replace it. In the first place, if there is still refrigerant in the system, it needs to be evacuated. You also must be certified to handle refrigerant. If you were to open the system while it was still pressurized, it can be dangerous. Secondly, many of todays vehicles require complete removal of the instrument panel (dashboard) to enable you to remove the entire HVAC box. (Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning). Once the box is removed, you can then disassemble the box and replace the evaporator. Thirdly, any time an A/C system has been open to atmosphere, the accumulator/receiver-dryer must be replaced. There are also steps that must be taken to ensure that the correct amount of the proper refrigerant oil is maintained in the system. This is not a job for a Do-It-Yourselfer. Even experienced mechanics cringe at these jobs. Bite the bullet, go back to your mechanic and have the job done right. Or, you can roll the windows down and drive fast. Good Luck.
