how do i wire up my a/c condenser fan motor. My old motor has 3 wires the new motor has 4 wires its a rheem?

  1. There is usually a little diagram on the motor. Sounds like the new one is dual speed or reversable.
  2. You should look on the side of the new motor. there should be a diagram there. Two of the wires {probably brown} should go to the run capacitor. the other two to the contactor. For more hvac tips for free go to www.hvac-for-beginners.com
  3. Follow the wire diagram that came with motor. If you need more help , please re post.
  4. if you want to go back with 3 wires then the common wire which is white(or orange) on the new motor is also the brown wire with the white stripe. tape off the white(orange) wire and use the brown wire with the white stripe on it for common black will go to the contactor the plain brown wire to the capacitor marked fan the brown wire with the white stripe will go on the capacitor mark c for common.
  5. i have a master a/c license the 2 brown wires go to the new capacitor (you should have gotten a new capacitor with the motor 1 wire on 1 side and the other on the other side the remaining 2 wires go to the load side of the contactor
