Does anyone know where I can find the right heating element for a Rheem model 815v-400 electric water heater?
I can't find anything on Rheem's website and even google searching comes up empty handed. Anyone know which element this thing uses? Its a small half-size tank.

- WW Grainger is a full stock Rheem dealer. They have branches all over the US. Try the WWG in your area or try grainger.com Hope to be of assistance!...........L
- Heating elements are pretty much universal. Most hardware stores, Lowe's, Home Depots carry a good lie of them. Take your old one out and bring it along to match it up.
- I drained the water from my water heater and removed the elements and took them up to Lowes. I was able to match them with ones they had. I also have a shortie style water heater.
- If Grainger itself, (the store), can't help, ask for their nationwide parts service number. It's an 800 number so it's free, and it's an off-shoot of Grainger Corp., but it's national and they carry stuff that the stores don't. They also have access to schematics of appliances, vaucuums, electric tools, etc, etc. It's a good place to be familiar with.
- Try turning the power off(naturally) Drain the water. Home Depot should have the socket to unscrew the heating element out of the side of the unit. Not expensive. Carefully disconnect the wires on the element and remember which one went where. Unscrew element using the socket and take element to your local electrical supply. Most will carry this element. Home Depot may also. Most are 220 volts depending on your unit. Screw new element back in place tight so not to leak. Never turn circuit breaker on without water in tank, as you know. Small units have one element. Larger units have two. Generally this will take care of your situation, if you are positive that the reset button was not tripped or the thermostat is not bad.
