How long can I expect my Rheem heat pump/air conditioner to last for my home? This is a two-part question: 1) I don't know the first thing about air conditioning units, but a friend of mine told me residential air conditioners only last a maximum of 10-12 years. This seems like a pretty short lifespan for such an expensive piece of equipment. Is he correct? 2) Also, is the heat pump a separate unit from the air conditioner?
Rheem Classic X air conditioner? Our air conditioner fan outside is not running. Before calling a repair guy in I would like to trouble shoot the unit. I already checked if there was a re-set button which there does not seem to be one. I also checked and all the circuits are on, no fuse blown. What else can I do trouble shooting wise ? Thanks Thank you so much. I thought I checked everything but the batteries. Sure enough that was what it was. We ended up getting a new thermostat as well.
What is the most reliable home air conditioner? Trane? Carrier? Rheem? I am looking to install a new hvac system in the home, and there is nothing about which is the most reliable system on the net. I live in Florida, and it gets a workout. I am looking for component reliablilty, and I don't want to get into a discussion of zones and SEER ratings, just which one works the longest.
How do I defrost my air conditioner? I own a Rheem home air conditioner and it froze. I live in miami and boy is it hot. I can't sleep.... HELP! It's only 2 years old, should I be concerned?
Can I reverse a blower on a central air conditioner to clean out the evaporator coils? Ok, its a 2.5 ton Rheem air handler (blower). The a/c evap coils I suspect are almost completely clogged (restricted air flow from vents throughtout house. It is impossible to clean the underside of the coils (or even gain acess to) without disconnecting the evap case and removing the evaporator. Can I simply reverse polarity on the blower to atempt to suck out the debris, etc. The fresh air intake is directly behine the unit as is the filter.
air conditioner pouring out water? I have a rheem air conditioning unit. Tonight I noticed that it was not warming the house. I turned it off for about an hour and then turned it back on. After I turned it on it did start warming the house, but I heard running water. When I looked I found that the handler was pouring out water from the bottom of the unit. I could not locate from exactly where because of the screen (not the filter). I turned it back off and the water subsided. I checked the drain but it was not clogged. Any suggestions why this would happen? Thanks
How much would a new air conditioner unit cost...approximately? My mom got a soliciting call from an air/heat company and she let them come to her house. She did have some water leaking from her air conditioner. They said she needed a new unit and charged her $5500.00 for a Rheem. Her house is 1500 square feet. This seems too high to me...anyone know?
Adding freon to central air conditioner???? My 1.5 ton Rheem central air unit needs to be recharged with Freon and the a/c guy wants too much to come do the job. Can a home handyman type do this safely, and if so, where can you buy the freon? Any tips on recharging the unit? Thanks!

Home air conditioner? My home air conditioner (outside unit) runs constantly even if I turn off the unit inside. I know it is probably a relay switch. Can I replace it myself. I replace the contacts constantly due to ants but I have resolved that problem. It is a rheem unit
Air Conditioner Confusion? The AC in the house is blowing but doesnt feel cold. Outside the Rheem unit thing fan is not running. Is there a connection? Oh and also the Honeywell thermostat reads "-AC" DO you know what might be going on? thank you very much!
Is it ok to run our A/C in the winter? Our house gets very warm and moist in the winter from all the cooking we do. I know that the air conditioning takes the moisture out of the air. This is a Rheem 10 SEER air conditioner paired up with a Rheem Criterion 2 furnace. So is it ok if i turn it on for a little bit to cool the place down a little bit and take some moisture out? We have a dehumidifier but it wont keep up with the moisture and makes the place warmer.
help! AC on the fritz!? Have a Rheem model RAKA-048JAZ air conditioner. The problem: The ac comes on fine (blower and condenser seem to be working, getting cold air). After 10 min, the circuit in the house trip and the condensor fan stops. Blower (which is part of the furnace) continues to blow. At the thermostat, if I turn the temp way up so everything should shut off (this is when the circuit to the condenser is tripped), the blower continues to blow. When I turn the thermostat off, the blower continues to blow. The only way I can turn the blower of is to disconnect the thermostat. OK...so I replaced the thermostat and the new one is doing the same thing. I cleaned the fins and coils on the compresser and cleaned out the electronics on the compressor. Still, it works for 10 minutes and then trips. Any ideas? Thanks.
