Rheem Furnace Is Blowing Cold Air Constantly? My Rheem gas heating furnace in my attic has started to exhibit a problem. I came home to find it blowing cold air constantly. I opened up the furnace and found that one of the three round temperature sensors had "tripped". They each have a tiny reset button on top of them. It was the top sensor that has it's face positioned downward, that had "tripped". So I pushed the reset button and restarted the furnace. It worked for about an hour, then it tripped again and the furnace started blowing cold air. What happens is the burners shutoff when the sensor is tripped, but the fan stays on continuously. This continuous cold air mode apparently is "as designed" by Rheem and tells you that something is wrong. There are four burners inside my Rheem furnace. One of them seems to be spitting flames occassionally in the opposite direction of the normal gas/flame flow. Backdrafting I guess it the best word for it. What could be causing that? It must be what's tripping the sensor.

Rheem Furnace trouble? I have a Rheem 90 PLUS - High Efficiency Furnace ( 9 Years old) it stopped working, no flame, the blower works if I press on the switch and then it stops after a few minutes when the furnace does not light up...??? any idea what is happening, any repair advice...I would appreciate it... Hey guys thanks for the advice, but I have tried all of these so far, I pushed the switch, only the blower runs and the furnace does not light up...
Old Rheem furnace blowing cold air? Smelled a faint but clear gas odor in furnace area last night. Called gas co., they found no leaks. Since then, furnace will come on, but only blow cold air. It has no pilot light - it's an electrically controlled mechanism, apparently. There is still a gas smell, though our gas fireplace works fine. The gas is working - the fireplace uses gas, and runs fine. The igniter switch sounds like a good answer - I'll check that.
i got bradford white water heater connecteed to my rheem furnace? if i were to change the knob on the water heater which says hot, warm or vacation. does that effect the furnace. because i was getting only cold air from my furnace even though I set the thermostat to higher temp. But when i changed the knob to warm, the furnace started to ignite. so are both them connected in that way or should i call the guy. thank you
We just had a power outage and my Rheem furnace (rgdg-07eauer) is not working. Fan will not even run.? All breakers have been checked. We seem to have had a power spike. Is the manual reset limit switch a a possibility? Where do I find it?

Rheem furnace - fan does not come on? Hi, I have dual heat/ac unit the fan does not come on for heat; however, the a/c works fine. I have replaced the Fan Cycle control and tested the relays which are fine. I gas heat engages just fine and the unit gets got but the fan does not engage. My fan cycle control has a manual switch to engage the fan and when press an internal fans does come on; however, the large fan blades outside do not engage. Also, when bypassing the delay by pressing manual override on one of the relays the large fan does engage. What should I do next - how do I get a service manual for the unit. The model and serial numbers are below. Thanks in advance and Happy New Year, Tom Model# RRGF-05E2-4JKR Serial# WNA-4110-A-HA-A-F1488-3456 Thanks you for the answers so far: 1. When I depress the manual switch on the FCC(fan cycle control) the internal fan turns on. 2. As mentioned the gas comes on and gets plenty of heat. 3. According to Spring Rooster the outside fan is only used with the a/c. Thank you Rooster that is very helpful... 4. I still have no heat inside - please help.
Rheem furnace help? I have a rheem heater with hot surface ingition. I can hear the furnace come on but the the hot surface ignitor does not come on. I changed it out with a new one but still same results. Could it be that ignition control went bad? Any help would be greatly appreciated. ryanlas thanks for the answer. I went and opened up the furnace but couldn't find what you were talking about. Can you specific where to look. I find any thing that looked like you described.

Rheem Criterion II gas furnace -1 hour lockout, now what? I have a Rheem Criterion II gas furnace. The unit starts and runs okay most of the time. However it will stop occasionally and will go into 1-hour lockout mode (based on light codes) . What is causing unit to work properly sometimes and not others? I have checked the orange flame light. It appears to be on steady. (When running) I went ahead and cleaned it as described. It is currently working but it's hard to say if that is due to the handy work or just dumb luck. Any other suggestions?
Is a Rheem multistage "Contour" furnace worth the $1000 extra it will cost me over their 2 stage model? Both model offer approx. the same heating efficiency (about 92 to 94%). The contour also offers a variable speed DC blower instead of the AC blower that comes with the 2 stage model.
Rheem Oil furnace cycles on & off - flame visible sometimes. What causes this? Hot Air Oil Furnace sometimes works - replaced upper limit switch, thermostat, nozzle. Furnace comes on, goes off then cycles back on - flame does not always light.
Troubleshooting question about a 20 year old Rheem 90+ furnace & a non-programmable digital thermostat.? Can a digital thermostat act like a limit switch by causing a low temperature setting to be sent to the furnace, thereby creating a false signal from the thermostat to the furnace that limits the selected heat temperature setting and the actual room temperature showing on a non-programmable digital themostat readout?
No flame on Rheem Furnace? My Rheem Classic Series Super Quiet 80 is not producing a flame. The Induced Draft Motor is working. Can you please help? Thanks in advance!!! Tom
HVAC Question--Rheem furnace- can stock mesh filter be replaced with pleated HEPA type filter? I have a Rheem Classic 90 furnace that was installed several years ago. It came stock with a re-usable plastic fine mesh filter that I remove and clean every few months. It seems to me that a paper HEPA type filter would do a much better job of filtering the air. The stock plastic mesh filter seems like its too much of an open weave to be really effective with dust and other allergens (we have pets). My question is: Can I replace the stock plastic mesh filter with a pleated paper type filter and not severely effect the airflow or performance of the furnace? What thickness filter would be an appropriate replacement?
Turned the gas back on and now the Furnace is broken. Any suggestions? It all started when I turned off the main gas valve outside my house because I put in a new cooktop and vent in my kitchen island. (The new downdraft vent was in conflict with the gas line, so I had to re-route it.) Anyway, when I got everything hooked backup up, I turned the gas back on. That was a few weeks ago. All of my gas applicances are working fine except for the Furnace. It's a Rheem Imperial High Efficiency circa 1990 with electronic ignition. When I turn it on (thermostat turned way up and on HEAT setting, auto fan), the main fan comes on, the purge blower comes on, but no flame. WIthin a minute the main fan goes off, but the purge blower stays on. No flame. That's the way it stays. Lucky time of year to be without heat! I figure I have a chance to fix this myself with your advice. Any suggestions?
Why is my rheem furnace giving the gas valve varying voltage? I have been troubleshooting my rheem criterion(not II) for a few days now. Started out with not keeping burners lit and going into lockout. I have literally checked everything I can think of (bypass thermostat, checked p. switch, flame sensor, vacuum port, limits, grounds everywhere are new, polarity is good, inducer, blower, ducting etc.) After all of this the furnace now runs but not usually on first ignition attempt...sometimes second, third etc. but once it gets going its alright which is a hell of a lot better than waking up to 56 degrees every day! The thing that is confusing is that when I check voltage of gas valve at ignition it is never consistent...occasionally 24vac, but sometimes 11,14,7 etc. When voltage to it is low it just clicks and doesn't ignite. Because it DOES work when the voltage is actually 24 for the right period of time, the valve seems fine but does this confirm my theory that the ifc board is going out??? This is literally the only problem I have localized in finding the problem. I really wish I had airflow and gas measuring tools right about now though! I am very familiar with electricity basics and mechanics and I hate not being able to correctly fix a problem like this! BTW: Rheem criterion appreciate the honesty...need to save about 500 bucks in the meantime...might just try to get by till the onset of next winter and let a pro go to town on it! appreciate the honesty...need to save about 500 bucks in the meantime...might just try to get by till the onset of next winter and let a pro go to town on it!
My Rheem Criterion furnace will light burners then go out? I have been troubleshooting the furnace for a couple days now...First thought grounds seemed bad so checked and "fixed". Then thought pressure switch so tested for continuity, manually opened and closed, then jumper...but burners still went out within 5-10 seconds. Tried to find flame sensor but can't find it anywhere...there is a limit switch above the far burner but isn't tripped and there is no rod coming out of it or by it in the flame area. My question is where in the hell is the sensor on this model if it has one?Is it hidden somewhere or what? Also checked ducts from induced draft motor and they are clear. Currently I haven't resealed the duct inlet to the IDM with red rtv sealant but thought maybe that a slight leak from this point could cause some sort of issue, but figured until its fixed it can wait. Also the problem started out with furnace working at first but then not turning back on once temp dropped..then burners went out after minutes sometimes...then now they are going out no more tha 10 seconds after ignition! I'm genuinely dumbfounded. The control board lights up both lights, and ok light goes dim then bright every few seconds but I was told this is normal and everything else works so I don't think that the IFC is the problem..ANY HELP OR TROUBLESHOOTING STEPS WOULD BE GREAT!! Thanks a lot. Greg This is not a Criterion II..model number: RGDG-10EBRJR
rheem furnace will ignite, but not stay lit. Why? My Rheen furnace ignitor glows red, the gas is lit & is blown into the heating duct by the fan for about 3 seconds. Then the ignitor stops glowing red & the gas stops flowing. The furnace goes through this cycle 3 times, then stops altogether. WHY?
Electric Furnace troubleshooting? I have a small electric furnace made by rheem, the heat does not come on. Ealier if you bring the temperature slider back a forth a few time, it would run normal. Now that doesn't work. This to me sounds like a relay gone bad, or maybe a time delay. Any help would be appreciated. By the way I am quite knowledgeable about safely work with 210 V and almost have a mechanical engineering degree, so I have an idea how this thing works just need a start point for diagnosis. Also I have checked the thermostat settings and it funtionality with a multimeter. As I am a student I cannot afford a service call.
Help with igniting the pilot on my gas furnace.? My sister and I live in my grandparents house. It's getting cold outside so we thought we'd check to see if the furnace would work. I switched it over to heat nothing happened. I checked the breaker box and everything is fine. Then we realized that the pilot had been turned off. We need help with lighting it. We don't know how to go about it b/c it's 25 years old and I have no idea if there's an igniter button or we have to actually light it with a match. If we do where do where do we light it at, what does the pilot light look like? There is a silver Honeywell box and it says "push man and pull auto". Does that have anything to do with it? The heater is a Rheem model # RGAA - 150C.
rheem 90 plus question -furnace? I have this furnance i've replace damn near every part in it. Now the issue is it runs fine during the day set at 70. But once we go to bed at night. Its still set at 70 at by morning its 55 in my house. So we thought it was the thermostat. So we took it off the wall and put the 2 wires together and it should run continueously but it doesn't. We were told a couple of things. One was the mother board but that was replaced in October. Then someone told me it could be the flame sensor. It cant be many more things. Some one help please

I received a quote of $4,800 for all connections including thermostat, check and clear condensate line, new refrigerant lineset, and a new pad for the outdoor unit. Is this way too high or is it reasonable? I need to replace the outside AC unit and the inside furnace is alright but the coil will need replacing to get it up to the 13 seer efficiency. Rheem Gas Furnace Criterion II will not start? I have Rheem Gas Furnace Criterion II will not start. This furnace has been in the house since it was built in 2002. Almost every 1 1/2 month during this last winter, the furnace won't start. so I turned off the furnace for a while, like more than 1 hour then turn it back on, and the heater works. there are times that I have called a maitenance service and found nothing wrong with the furnace because it works when they turn on the power without doing anything to it. In short the maintenance guys are all puzzled. I am tired of them charging me money which they cannot figure out what's wrong with this furncace. Last night the furnace is sick again and my family slept in cold house in Gresham, Oregon. I check the furnace and this time noticed the power light is on but OK light is blinking 4 times then pause and then repeats. I never counted the blinking lights before. Blinking lights tells me the pressure switch is closed, not sure what this look like and where located. Please help, thnx. I did check the pressure switch after looking at the websites what it look like and unplug the air line, check that no water in the line or dirt, then plug it back in. place back all the panels and the motor works and now the furnace is working giving us heat. thank you for your reply.

Help installing a FAN LIMIT SWITCH in gas furnace? RUUD (Rheem) horizontal gas furnace about 20 years old. The HVAC says I need a new fan limit switch. I can see the device, and have seen the part on line. It is easy to get at. I can buy it for 150 bucks or so. I am pretty knowledgeable and tool savvy. Any advice on installing and adjusting it is greatly appreciated! Thanks.
How to sell a used furnace? I have a used Rheem hot air oil furnace for sale and I was wondering what is the best way of selling it? Thank you.
How do you remove and clean burners in a gas furnace? Rheem gas furnace about 15 years old
My rheem furnace works OK for about 3 min and then blows out cold air.? The 20 year old furnace has elec ignition and I can hear the spark when the thermostat is turned on and then the heater is blowing out warm air. But after about 3 mins and is still way below the set temp, the air becomes cold and I can see the flame is out. Occasionally the flame comes back on and all is fine but for just a short time. All of this is happening while the fan never misses a beat. If I turned off the thermostat the fan continues to run but evenutally shuts off except now much much longer then normal . I don't think it's the ignitor since the flame goes off while the heater is already going. When it was working normally, the flame was always on until the room temp reached the thermostat setting . Something is "fooling" the fan into thinking that the flame is still on. I turned on the off the heater several times in an effort to "reset" it and the same thing continues. Please help. Thanks in advance. I forgot to mentioned: This problem occurs right after the contractor had replaced and insulated all the air ducts. I must admit I wasn't in the garage most of the time while the work was going on and I didn't think they had to get inside the furnace anyway. They told me it was a coincident. Today I was poking around (since I do have some electrical back ground) I found 2 sensors/switches with adjustment dials housed in the same metal box. One of them is called the temp-rise cut off switch and the other one called the fan delay switch. When I bypass the former switch with a jumper wire, the flame is staying on until the T-stat temp is reached. But the fan is still staying on too long. As I mentioned, there are adjusting dials for both switches. What I think happened was those dials were tampered with but I can't prove it. I am afraid to mess with the adjustment myself. So what I am going to do is to call an expert to check and verify the problem. Thanks to all those who replied.

I have a Rheem gas furnace. Ignites, Gas shuts off when Heating element dies down..? Thought it was the flame sensor. Replaced that. Thought it was the control box, replaced that. Still it lights, then shuts off when the element dies down. Don't really have the money for the repair man. Last one cost me a fortune. I have the almost exact furnace in an apartment in my house so I was using those parts to test. Its all hooked up correctly as far as I can tell. Hopefully someone can help... model # rgda10ecer Electronic ignition, has a Honeywell control box ( which I tested on another furnace ) No thermocouple? Not a standing pilot
