Can I deduct an air conditioner, air filter and back pillow for my home office from my taxes for my business? I work at home, and I take the home office deduction. I have a separate room that is my regular office space used exclusively as an office, so that is not the question. I'm just sure if these are particular items I would be able to deduct. I bought a back pillow from the chiropractor for my typing chair, and I need to buy an air filter for this horrible allergy season and an air conditioner for the home offfice. Are these expenses I can deduct since they will only be used in the home office? Do I need to depreciate them? When depreciating, is there a minimum dollar amount? The back pillow was only 25 bucks. If I don't depreciate it, what category would that be? Thanks for any information!! I have looked up a lot of info on this but I'm just not sure about these items. As I said, my home office is my regular place of business. I do everything from here on the computer. That's it. I think I read somewhere air conditioning is not applicable to Section 179. And I also don't know how the air filter would figure into that or if it's deductible.
Location of Air conditioner filter? I need help please! I am leasing a home from the 80's and I cannot seem to locate the air-conditioner filter. in my apartment it was on the hall way accessible in the ceiling thru a grill cover and easy to remove, but in this home I cant see it anywhere in any room, is it possible that it can be in the attic? how can i identify it ? please advise. thanks Jose S
How do I get rid of the moldy smell coming from my car air conditioner. replaced cabin filter and still smells I keep my car very clean and change the cabin air filter every few months. All of a sudden, when I turn the air conditioning on the air coming out smells like wet dog, or moldy feet. I took the air filter out thinking it was the problem, but the smell remains. How do I get rid of the smell? The smell was not present at the beginning of the warm weather. Only started in the past week. I bought the car used, but have had it for 2 years. It is a 2001 Lexus RX300. Any more ideas? I may try the febreeze and baking soda first.
An air conditioner filter for a 2008 Chrysler sebring ? It is available as an option and I have found where it is located behind the glove box. The parts people at chrysler cannot seem to find a filter to fit the compartment. Does anyone know what filter would fit for this vehicle? I was thinking a filter for the 300 or crossfire.
one home air conditioner filter or two? just had some ductwork done. unit had one filter behind grate in ceiling, another like halfway along the attic unit itself. Tech took out the ceiling filter, told me only need one of the two, else will reduce output of unit without adding protection. As they both tend to get pretty cruddy, I am skeptical that we don't need two....or will the one filter now collect all the crud that the ceiling filter won't, on account of it not being there? Opinions please....thanks!

2003Toyota Corolla 1.5L xli Air Conditioner Filter Replacement? My car air conditioner air flow coming out from the air duct is not strong as usual event it was put to the highest speed selection. The fan is working normally as advice by the mechanic and he said the air cond filter has to be changed. How do I replace, where is the location, how to assess, the cost and where to obtain one in Singapore.
Why is my air conditioner still freezing after I changed the filter? I forgot to change the filter of my air conditioner unit for a whole year (whoops!) and just thought about it the other day, at which time I opened it up and found that the whole thing, although running fine, was frozen over and dripping all over the floor. I let it thaw out then changed the filter, but it still keeps freezing over every time I turn it on now. How can I fix this, or do I need to call a technician? I live in Miami so the season never ends here, so buying a new unit will be expensive regardless. The AC still works, just freezes over every time it runs. Turning it off is very difficult because it's hot here 24/7 so I guess I'll have to pray I can get someone out here to fix it soon.
How can I change the air filter in my air conditioner? Thanks for all the answers. Here's how I finally changed it: 1. I switched off the AC using the controls inside my home. The air filter was in the attic, for my central air conditioner. 2. There was a small metal door on the unit, held together with a screw. 3. For some reason, there were 2 strips of duct tape down the edges of the door - I had to remove the screw and peel off the tape. 4. After I pulled off the door, I removed the old air filter and inserted the new one. 5. The new air filter had markings along the edge, pointing to the direction of air flow. There was a marker at the side of the filter door pointing to the direction of air flow on my unit. I made sure that both arrows aligned. 6. I closed the door, put the screw on and re-applied the tape. 7. Switched on the AC - I don't know if the air actually feels cleaner, or its just wichful thinking. Thanks!
Can a Swiffer cloth be used as an electrostatic filter in an air conditioner? Hello... My air conditioner requires that I use electrostatic filters. However, they look awfully similar to Swiffer type cloths, and aren't swiffer cloths electrostatic? I think the AC filters are metallic, whereas the Swiffer is not, but I still think that they may do the same thing... more or less. I want to cut down on the dust, pollen, etc. in my apartment, but I don't want to harm (choke) the AC unit. I also don't want to buy any products that aren't necessary... Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
What is the best central air conditioner filter? I have spent most of the day looking at AC filters and cannot decided on what to get. I have a Carrier system that runs on Puron and live in FL where the humidity is high. We currently use a pleated filter (as much as I know) but it is not doing the job. We vacuum a lot and dust a lot but within a day or two the dust is back. I have read about electrostatic filters being good then I read they are a huge fad. So what type of filter should I go with when dealing with a lot of dust and pet dandruff? need to know what type of filter to buy there are tons of different types, its just not about price. It has to be a 1 in filter, no way to retrofit anything else. Since the opinions are so split here as well, I guess I will just ask the local service contractor. I hate to do that as they have their own monetary concerns so they will slant you towards the most expensive solution which of course may not be the most optimal.
Will covering my window with an electrostatic A/C filter reduce dust while maintaining clean air exchange? I think that I may be sensitive to outdoor dust near my apartment but I want to maintain fresh air exchange (otherwise it gets "stuffy"). Recently I've thought of putting an electrostatic air conditioner filter (3M Filtrete) to cover my windows (it only costs $8 per filter and it's said to last 2 months). While the filter should reduce airflow somewhat I think I'll still be able to get enough air exchange with it. Question: If any water/humidity comes into contact with the filter (the filter was originally designed for an air conditioner) will that cause it to lose its electrostatic properties (ie. will it become less effective at trapping dust?). Is there anything else I should consider before putting in the filter (any undesired effects?)??
Are permanent air conditioner filters really any good? I live in San Antonio, Texas, and have been using disposable air conditioner filters since I bought the house. Are the permanent air conditioner filters (i.e. the ones you can wash) any good? Do they help reduce the dust in the house more than the disposable ones?
