What is a reasonable sales commission for selling hvac systems? For years, I have been a HVAC trainer, and troubleshooter. I now have an opportunity to do sales for a contractor and am wondering what a reasonable commission would be for selling such systems. Besides finding customers and selling the systems, I would also be doing all the heat losses and gains, system design and layouts, getting quotes from suppliers for system materials, and providing technical support during the installation. So, the question is: What type of commission would be typical, assuming that this commission is my only income(no base salary)?

Need information on Zoned HVAC Systems? How do these work? Are they reliable? Are they worth the money? Does anyone have any experience of zoned HVAC systems? Are you an HVAC Technician or a Homeowner? There is currently a central forced-air system. I’m considering having two zones, one for upstairs and one for downstairs. HVAC: Is this true about R410 Coolant and HVAC systems? Yesterday an A/C repairman was here and I started chatting with him about the new required SEER ratings and R410 coolant. (I have been thinking about replacing my condenser/compressor that currently runs on R22. But I didn't mention the possible replacement to the tech..) So we start chatting and first he tells me that there is a shortage of R410 coolant, and that people are having to wait to install new A/C systems. He also said that R410 is about 5x more expensive than R22, but he thought eventually the price will come down. Has anyone heard this?? Lastly, and most important to me, he said that R22 and R410 systems are not compatible and you cannot mix componets. So that if my existing compressor breaks down, my options are to replace the whole HVAC system (compressor, furnance, and coil (?)) with a system that runs on R410, or continue/try to repair my existing system. Is that true??

HVAC system and closing vents for extended periods of time? I've heard that it's bad to close off vents for extended periods of time ... that an HVAC system is meant to handle the SQ footage that it was installed for and that shutting off vents can cause harm to the system. How much does it cost to install a heat pump to replace a 36-year old HVAC system for a 3-bedroom house? The existing system uses natural gas for heat and a split indoor/outdoor system for the A/C. The new system would use a heat pump, whose outdoor coil should be underground to avoid being affected by freezing air in winter. The heat pump should be efficient enough to not need any secondary heating system, but just use the heat pump all the time, even on the coldest days, which should be possible because of the underground coil.

The fan on my HVAC system continues running even when I turn it off at the thermostat. What is the problem? The only way to turn it off is on a mastwer switch at the heater cabinet. How is smoke getting into my HVAC system? I just bought a condo and I am having a lot of trouble with cigarette smoke from the units of other residents getting in to my unit. Average temperature in January is 38. Average temperature in July is 89. Average precipitation in lowest month (June) is .4 inches. Average precipation in highest month (August) is 3.3 inches.

how would i go about determining if an hvac system is sized correctly? i've measured the diameters of the ducts and noted the reductions in size, as well as the lengths. the unit has a btu rating. there just isn't enough air getting to the furthest room. we tried closing the registers on all the other rooms, but still no air gets to the far room.
