can you put heating and air conditioning...and electricity in a shed? I'm thinking of living in one, but I need to make it weather proof. I'm more concerned with air-conditioning than heating. But I'm not sure how to do that or what it would cost. What about electricity? anyone know? (if you're going to insult me living in a shed and not answer the questions, then please don't waste your time). it's a pre-built wood shed from home depot, vinyl sides. it has a window upstairs and two downstairs in addition to the doors.
On a heating & air conditioning unit does shade matter? Our HVAC unit is not covered by any type of shade during the hottest time of the day. Is it true that the unit has to work harder and uses more electricity if it is not covered by either a shade tree or other means? If it is true, what have you used to guard the unit from the blazing sun? Thanks for your help!! My husband is convinced that because it is not covered by shade or something of the sort, like an awning, that it is making our utility bill higher because the unit has to work harder. He is very concious of saving money, well I am to, but he really is. I am trying to help him with it either way it goes. You don't know what I live with as far as saving money, te he he
Why do my heating and air conditioning units come on at the same time? I have central air. I turned my heater on for the first time yesterday and it seemed to work just fine. I felt the air coming from the vents and it is warm. The temperature reached the set temp on the thermostat. The problem is that my air conditioning unit also comes on. I don't think this is normal. Can someone please tell me why this is happening? Thanks.
Trane Central Heating and Air Conditioning Question? I have a large Trane Heat Pump in my home. My question is this, The thermostat is placed on the wall in the hallway directly under the air intake and the filter is located above in the ceiling. It seems like this is the coldest and draftiest place in the home because it is where the intake is drawing in the air. Wouldn't the system do a better job if I relocated the thermostat to a place where the air temperature is more constant? Thanks!
Heating/Air Conditioning Condenser (Outside) Covered in Frost.? We have a Heating/Air Conditioning Heat Pump Condenser (located outside of the home on concrete pad) that becomes covered in frost during cold temperatures. Didn't do this before last year. What is causing this? Should I be concerned? If this is a problem, how can I fix it myself? Advice please. Thanks.
Buying new Goodman central heating and air-conditioning units? I have a 2700 square-foot house in Southern California, and I am replacing the builder supplied AC and furnace units. The top brands Lennox and Trane are beyond my budget, so the contractor is recommending Goodman, which is one of the largest manufacturers of this equipment. Consumer Digest rates them a best buy for the "budget minded" consumer. Could someone knowledgeable on this subject comment on the quality of Goodman.
Heating and Air conditioning? I have central heat & air (good man) when I turn the heat I can hear the fan come on and pulse for like second and start running, it's only happened when I turn on heat, its doen't do it when I turn on A/C, why it's doing this. PLEASE HELP Electric heat, thank you
Household Heating & Air Conditioning Question??? Help? I am supposto close on a condo tomorrow, which has been remodeled - and I feel that the heating doesn't work right. The the A/C works fine - but the Heater doesn't go on unless I turn the thermostat fan to the "ON" position. If the heater fan is in the "auto" position on the thermostat I can hear the heater click to go on but the air doesn't come out of the vent, but if I turn the fan to "auto" the heat comes out fine but the fan will stay ON all the time. Shouldn't the heater work on the "auto" setting like the A/C does? The maintenance person replaced the thermostat with a new Honeywell digital. I would appreciate and suggestions as to what could be wrong on this. Thanks
